Josh Hamilton homered and drove in three runs and starter Colby Lewis showed he had some offensive skills to go along with his pitching skills, leading the Texas Rangers to a 7-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon.
Lewis’ two-run single in the sixth inning broke open the game, giving the Rangers a 4-1 lead. Hamilton’s two-run homer in the fourth had gotten them on the board.
Lewis (6-4) was just as sharp on the mound, going eight innings and allowing two runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts.
Prince Fielder was one of the few batters to solve him, belting a pair of home runs, including one in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-2.
Hamilton added an RBI groundout in the seventh for the Rangers and Julio Borbon cushioned the lead with a two-run double in the eighth.
Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo (6-3) went six innings, allowing four runs on six hits with four walks and 10 strikeouts.
