Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus both recorded two-run doubles and Vladimir Guerrero added a two-run home run as the Texas Rangers rolled to a 7-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
Texas starter Colby Lewis (5-4) pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts for the victory.
Meanwhile Mariners starter Felix Hernandez (3-5) struggled from the start and ended up going six innings, allowing seven runs (all earned) on eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
The Rangers took a quick 2-0 lead in the first on Hamilton’s two-run double.
The Mariners answered with a run in the fourth, but the Rangers pulled away in the sixth with RBI hits from Justin Smoak and Andrus.
Guerrero then cushioned Texas’ lead with a two-run blast in the seventh, his 13th homer this season.
Rangers relievers Chris Ray and Darren O’Day combined for two scoreless innings to close the game.
