Mark Ellis' pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored the go-ahead run to lead the Oakland A's to a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
Matt Holliday provided all of St. Louis' offense with solo homers in the fourth and sixth. Holliday had three hits on Sunday and homered four times in the three-game series.
Andrew Bailey recorded the final four outs for his 13th save. Bailey retired Albert Pujols on a fly ball with two on to end the eighth and sent the side down in order in the ninth.
Craig Breslow (2-1) struck out two in 1 2/3 innings. Four Oakland pitchers held St. Louis to five hits.
Conor Jackson started Oakland's rally with a one-out single off Blake Hawksworth (1-4). Kevin Kouzmanoff followed with a single that allowed Jackson to get to third. Kouzmanoff went 4-for-4 on the day, including a solo homer in the fourth.
Ellis then batted for Ryan Sweeney and hit a fly ball off Trever Miller that was deep enough to score Jackson.
Cardinals starter Jeff Suppan allowed two runs in 4 2/3 innings. A's starter Trevor Cahill gave up two runs in six innings.
