Brooks Conrad bunted home the winning run in the ninth inning as the Atlanta Braves shaded the Minnesota Twins 3-2 Saturday night.
With one out and runners on first and third, Conrad reached on a bunt single, allowing Gregor Blanco to score the go-ahead run as the Braves avenged a 2-1 loss to the Twins in Friday's interleague series opener. Conrad finished with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Martin Prado had three hits and a run scored, and Melky Cabrera added a rare home run for the Braves, who improved to 4-5 on their current 10-game road trip. Cabrera's homer was his second of the season, and his first since May 22.
Jonny Venters (2-0) earned the victory after entering in the eighth inning and striking out the only batter he faced. Billy Wagner pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 11th save.
Matt Guerrier (1-2) absorbed the loss after surrendering a run on two hits in one inning of work.
Both starters were solid. Atlanta's Derek Lowe allowed two runs on six hits in 7 1-3 innings, while Nick Blackburn worked seven innings, surrendering two runs on six hits.
Joe Mauer had an RBI double and Delmon Young added a run-scoring single to provide the Minnesota offense.
