C.J. Wilson pitched eight scoreless innings and Michael Young homered for the game’s lone run in a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night.
A day after Cliff Lee pitched a gem, Wilson (9-5) followed with his own. He allowed only four hits with no walks and three strikeouts to win for the third time in four starts.
Neftali Feliz came on and earned his 27th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
For the second consecutive night, Young hit a solo home run in the first inning, which would stand as the game-winner.
The Rangers and Angels have now played seven games this year with six having been decided by one run. The Rangers have won five of them and currently own a seven-game lead over the Angels in the American League West standings.
Angels starter Joe Saunders (6-10) ended up taking the loss despite going seven innings and allowing a run on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
The Angels 2-3-4-5 hitters particularly struggled, going a combined 0-for-14 with three strikeouts.
