Rajai Davis hit his first-career grand slam and drove in a career-high five runs as the Oakland Athletics pounded the Los Angeles Angels 15-1 on Saturday.
Davis finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored and Coco Crisp drove in four runs for the A's, who snapped a four-game skid in emphatic fashion. The 15 runs were the most the A’s have scored since September 26 of last season - which was also against the Angels.
Oakland erupted for eight runs in the third and five more in the fifth. Davis’ slam highlighted the eight-run third and Crisp belted a three-run shot in the fifth off Scott Kazmir (7-9), who suffered by far the worst outing of his career.
The left-hander was rocked for 13 runs and 11 hits in five innings. It was his fourth straight loss.
Ben Sheets (4-8) hardly needed the massive amount of run support. He allowed just two hits in six innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
Cory Aldridge drove in the lone run for the Angels.
