Howie Kendrick and Torii Hunter each homered for the second straight game and Jered Weaver struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim walloped the Chicago Cubs, 12-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Kendrick led off the game with a home run, which was part of a three-hit, three-RBI performance. Hunter added a two-run shot in the fifth inning to make it 6-0, and the rout was on.
Bobby Abreu finished with four hits while Juan Rivera added a three-run double for the Angels, who have won 16 of their last 21 games away from Anaheim.
Weaver (7-3) did the rest, fashioning his strongest performance of the season. The veteran right-hander allowed just two hits and didn't walk a batter en route to his second straight victory.
Ted Lilly (2-6) struggled Saturday, surrendering eight runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out seven in his shortest outing since April 29.
