Kendrick blasted a homer off Seattle closer David Aardsma (0-3) to right center. Kendrick also homered in the seventh off reliever Shawn Kelley, cutting the lead to 7-6.

Yesterday Angels first baseman Kendry Morales hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th and suffered a broken left leg as he landed awkwardly celebrating at home plate. Kendrick suffered no such injury today.

Fernando Rodney (4-0) got the win with one inning of relief.

Seattle catcher Eliezer Alfonzo was called up Friday after catcher Josh Bard was placed on the disabled list. He had three hits and smacked a three-run homer off Los Angeles starter Joe Saunders in the fourth.

Saunders was battered for seven runs on 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The Mariners got three RBI singles in the fifth for a 7-2 lead as starter Ian Snell worked four innings, allowing three runs but four walks.

Los Angeles chipped away at the lead and got help from the Mariners, who walked in two runs and allowed another on Alfonzo’s catcher’s interference before Kendrick’s two homers.

Erick Aybar finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored to help the Angels as well.
