Jered Weaver took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and the Los Angeles Angels pelted Felix Hernandez for an 8-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
Juan Rivera homered and drove in three runs and Kendry Morales doubled in three runs to help the Angels snap a seven-game losing streak.
Weaver (4-1) allowed two hits in 7 1/3 innings. Ken Griffey Jr. singled to break up the no-hitter with two out in the seventh.
Hernandez (2-3) went just 3 1/3 innings, allowed eight runs and gave up three homers in the fourth inning to all parts of Safeco Field.
Rivera hit a two-run shot to left, Howie Kendrick followed with one to right and later Ryan Budde hit his first major-league homer to left for the 8-0 advantage.
It was Hernandez’s shortest outing since leaving in the first inning with tightness in his pitching elbow on April 18, 2007.
Morales cleared the bases with his three-run double in the first to set the tone.
Michael Saunders had the Mariners only other hit as they have lost seven in a row, including back-to-back shutouts.
