Jose Bautista hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs as the Toronto Blue Jays rolled to a 8-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
The Blue Jays made life tough for Royals starter Brian Bannister (0-1), who was socked with the loss in giving up six runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Travis Snider hit a solo homer off Bannister in the fourth to the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead and Bautista ripped a three-run shot in the fifth.
Bautista also homered in the seventh with one man on to give Toronto an 8-1 advantage.
The Royals couldn't get anything going against Blue Jays starter Brandon Morrow (1-1), who went seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out eight.
Jose Guillen was 2-for-4 for the Royals, who scored their lone run on an RBI single by David DeJesus in the sixth.
