John Danks allowed one run in eight innings and Carlos Quentin homered in leading the Chicago White Sox back into a tie for the AL Central lead with Minnesota following Wednesday’s 6-1 win over the Twins.
Danks (12-8) held the Twins to six hits, walked two and struck out seven. Minnesota's only run came in the sixth on Michael Cuddyer's RBI single.
Quentin hit a two-run homer in the second off Glen Perkins (0-1), who took the loss in his first start of the season.
Perkins was called up from Triple-A Rochester to replace Kevin Slowey, who has a sore shoulder. Perkins lasted only 4 2/3 innings, giving up six runs - four earned - and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Chicago managed only six hits, but made the most of them. Alex Rios had an RBI single in the third and the White Sox put the game away with three in the fifth. Juan Pierre singled in a run, Alexei Ramirez added an RBI double and J.J. Hardy's throwing error scored the third run.
An error by second baseman Orlando Hudson led to Chicago's run in the third.
