Jon Lester threw seven shutout innings to lead the Boston Red Sox over the Toronto Blue Jays 6-0, salvaging the final game of the three-game series Sunday afternoon.
Lester won his career-high 18th game. He allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four lowering his season ERA to 3.06.
The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on Victor Martinez's 18th home run of the season. They scored five more in the fifth inning as Daniel Nava had an RBI double and Yamaico Navarro followed with an RBI single.
J.D. Drew then cracked a two-run homer, his 19th, to cap the scoring.
Jose Bautista went 0-for-4 in the game to remain stuck on 49 home runs.
Shaun Marcum (12-8) took the loss. He allowed six runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings.
