Bill Hall hit a solo homer and Victor Martinez had three hits and drove in a run for the Red Sox, who improved to 9-0 against the Angels this season.
Red Sox starter John Lackey (11-7) labored through seven innings to beat his former team for the third time this season. He allowed five runs on 10 hits, retiring the final seven batters he faced after giving up Alberto Callaspo's three-run homer in the fifth.
Jonathan Papelbon registered his 30th save to become the first pitcher to post 30-plus saves in each of his first five seasons.
Left-hander Scott Kazmir, making his third start since coming off the disabled list with shoulder fatigue, lasted five innings, surrendering four runs on eight hits and yielding the homers to Beltre and Hall.
Kevin Jepsen (2-3) took the loss in relief, giving up two runs and two hits in one inning. He threw a wild pitch and hit a batter with the bases loaded in the seventh, forcing home the tying and go-ahead runs.
Mike Napoli homered for the Angels, who lost their third straight game.
