David Ortiz had a pair of RBI doubles and a two-run single as the Boston Red Sox belted a season-high eight doubles and cruised to a 12-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
Mike Lowell blasted a two-run homer to cap a five-run first inning and Victor Martinez had a pair of RBI doubles as Boston (36-27) snapped a modest two-game losing streak.
Adrian Beltre and Dustin Pedroia also had a run-scoring double apiece and Marco Scutaro added an RBI single for the Red Sox.
That was more than enough offense for John Lackey (7-3). The 31-year-old Texas native allowed two runs and six hits while striking out three in seven innings to pick up the win.
Boof Bonser wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth before retiring the side in the ninth to end the game.
A pair of groundouts results in runs for Philadelphia (31-28), who lost for the 15th time in its last 22 contests.
Jamie Moyer (6-6) was throttled in this one. The 47-year-old left-hander allowed nine runs and nine hits in just one inning to take the loss.
