Jake Arrieta pitched six strong innings as the Baltimore Orioles completed an improbable four-game sweep of the Texas Rangers on Sunday with a 4-1 victory.
Arrieta (3-2) went 6 1/3 solid innings, allowing one run on six hits while walking two and striking out three. The 24-year-old rookie ended a four-game winless stretch dating back to June 15.
Alfredo Simon pitched the ninth inning for his 13th save.
Corey Patterson led the way with a two-run double and Miguel Tejada added a solo home run as the Orioles won their first road series of the season. Sunday's victory also clinched Baltimore's first four-game road sweep since 1995.
The Orioles still own the worst record in the majors, but have won 10 of their last 17 games to avoid reaching 60 losses by the All-Star break.
Ian Kinsler's solo home run in the first inning provided the lone offense for the Rangers, who dropped to 6-15 against the American League East this season.
C.J. Wilson (7-5) was tagged for three runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked five and struck out five.
