Aubrey Huff and Juan Uribe broke open a tie game with back-to-back home runs to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon.
With the game knotted up 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Huff took Jeremy Guthrie deep to right field and Uribe, who attempted to bunt earlier in the at bat, connected to left field for a 4-2 advantage.
It gave Tim Lincecum (7-2) the win after he was pulled as precautionary reasons after a batted ball glanced off his right shoulder in the sixth. He allowed eight hits, two earned runs, four walks and notched 10 strikeouts.
Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless ninth for his 18th save.
Baltimore closed within 4-3 in the seventh when Julio Lugo singled in Luke Scott, but Huff and Uribe were at it again to extend their lead.
Huff started the eight with a single to left off Will Ohman and Uribe doubled off Alfredo Simon to put runners on the second and third. After an intentional walk to Pablo Sandoval to load the bases, Huff scored on Travis Ishikawa’s single and Uribe came around on Nate Schierholtz’s sacrifice fly.
Guthrie (3-8) was tagged with the loss after giving up four earned in six innings. He allowed eight hits, walked two and struck out two.
