Vernon Wells and Lyle Overbay went deep in the bottom of the eighth inning as the homer-happy Toronto Blue Jays rallied to beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2.
With the score tied 2-2, Wells deposited a Jason Berken pitch deep into the left-field seats to give Toronto the lead. The Jays center fielder has two home runs in his last two games and 13 on the season, just two fewer than he had all of last year.
Overbay ripped a two-run homer off Alberto Castillo three batters later for his second long ball of the game, and all the insurance Toronto would need.
Aaron Hill added a solo shot for Toronto, who leads the league with 85 home runs. Hill's second homer in as many games tied the score in the sixth inning after Baltimore had taken the lead in the top of the frame.
Toronto's four homers gave it 50 for the month, breaking a franchise record.
Brett Cecil (5-2) enjoyed his third straight solid outing, allowing two runs on four hits in eight innings. He struck out seven and didn't walk a batter.
Kevin Gregg pitched the ninth for his 13th save.
Berken (0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering Wells' homer.
Baltimore starter Chris Tillman had a strong showing in his first major-league start of the season. He limited Toronto's league-leading offense to two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
