Trevor Cahill pitched superbly for six innings and Adam Rosales homered and drove in four runs as the visiting Oakland Athletics throttled the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 on Wednesday night.
Rebounding from a 5-1 loss in Tuesday's series opener, the A's won on the road for the first time since May 11.
Cahill (3-2) turned in his best effort of the season, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three and walking three.
His only mistake was surrendering a solo homer to Garrett Atkins in the third inning.
By then Oakland had given Cahill a nice cushion, jumping on Orioles starter Brian Matusz for four runs in the first inning, highlighted by Rosales' three-run blast.
Rosales and Raji Davis each had three hits in a rare offensive outburst for the A's, who had scored a total of six runs in their string of six straight road losses.
Matusz (2-5), who was rocked for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings last time out, put his team in a 4-0 first-inning hole for the second straight start.
The left-hander was roughed up for six runs and eight hits in five innings in absorbing his fifth consecutive defeat.
