Cesar Izturis drove in three runs and the Baltimore Orioles scored three in the sixth inning on Tuesday to earn a rare win, 5-4, over the New York Yankees.
Alberto Castillo (1-0) and Jim Johnson combined for 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and Alfredo Simon made his season debut with a shaky ninth but earned the save for the Orioles, who entered the game with a 4.70 bullpen ERA - good for 12th in the American League.
Carrying a 2-1 lead into the sixth, Yankees starter Phil Hughes retired the first two batters of the frame but was then replaced due to a high pitch count. Left-hander Boone Logan came on and walked Luke Scott before right-hander David Robertson (0-1) entered the game and hit Ty Wigginton with a pitch.
Rhyne Hughes, Nolan Reimold and Izturis followed with RBI singles to lead the last-place Orioles to just their fourth win of the season - their first at home.
Jorge Posada hit his fifth homer of the year for New York, which has dropped four of five.
