PHILADELPHIA -- Williams Perez threw 6 1/3 shutout innings on his 25th birthday as the Atlanta Braves clinched a series win with a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on a cold and rainy Saturday.

With a cool breeze blowing and clouds threatening to break into showers at any minute, the Braves (12-30) and Phillies sped through the first three innings in under 45 minutes.

Then the precipitation and the Braves' offense showed up in the top of the fourth.

A light-but-steady rain fell as a leadoff single by Jeff Francoeur and four-pitch walk by Nick Markakis put two runners on for the first time all game.

Ender Inciarte clocked a line drive to center field that the Phillies' Odubel Herrera couldn't quite handle, scoring Francoeur. Erick Aybar's sacrifice fly one batter later brought Markakis home for a 2-0 lead.

The fourth inning was the only real spot of trouble for Phillies starter Adam Morgan, but it was enough for him to pick up his second loss in a row.

Morgan (1-2, 5.61 ERA) pitched six innings, giving up four hits and the two runs, both earned.

The Phillies offense was largely stymied by Perez, who threw only 90 pitches but departed after walking Maikel Franco with one out in the seventh inning.

The 25-year-old Venezuelan, who was sent down to Triple-A Gwinnett for a brief stint earlier this season, picked up his second win of the season, lowering his ERA from 4.78 to 3.86.

Relievers Ian Krol and Jason Grilli each recorded one out to keep Philadelphia off the scoreboard.

Grilli also threw a scoreless eighth before Arodys Vizcaino picked up his fifth save in six opportunities with a one-two-three ninth inning.

The Braves' pitching staff held the Phillies to two hits.

The Phillies (24-19) dropped three games back of the Washington Nationals in the loss column in the National League East standings, and could be in third place by the end of the day with a Mets win over the Brewers.

After taking two of three last week from the Braves, who have the worst record in baseball, the Phillies are in danger of getting swept and losing some key ground in the division race.

NOTES: Atlanta won the series opener Friday night 7-1 behind two home runs by 1B Freddie Freeman, his seventh and eighth of the season. ... The Braves are closing out a 10-game trip this weekend in Philadelphia, having gone 3-5 over the first eight games against the Kansas City Royals (1-2), Pittsburgh Pirates (1-3) and the Phillies (2-0). ... Through the first seven weeks of the season, the Phillies are one of only five teams in the National League with a record over .500 at home (12-8) and on the road (12-10). The Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Washington Nationals and Pirates are also in that group, as are the American League's Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox.
