Dodgers 9, Padres 7:
Yasiel Puig hit his first two major-league home runs in his second career game as invigorated Los Angeles made it two straight victories over visiting San Diego.

Puig hit a three-run shot - an estimated 438 feet into the left-center bleachers - to tie the game 5-5 in the fifth inning and delivered a two-run opposite field blast to right in the sixth off Tyler Ross (0-2) to put the Dodgers ahead 9-6. The 22-year-old Cuban finished 3-for-4 after going 2-for-4 in his debut Monday.

Tim Federowicz homered in the second inning for Los Angeles while Luis Cruz's RBI double preceded Puig's second home run and gave the Dodgers a 7-6 lead. J.P. Howell (2-0) allowed Carlos Quentin's solo homer in the seventh while Brandon League worked a perfect ninth for his 13th save.

Chris Denorfia and Kyle Blanks also homered for the Padres, with Blanks' two-run shot giving San Diego a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Los Angeles' Hanley Ramirez returned to the lineup after missing 28 games with a hamstring injury and delivered a sacrifice fly to give the Dodgers a 6-5 lead in the fifth.

Dodgers starter Ted Lilly allowed five runs (four earned) in four-plus innings while the Padres' Clayton Richard yielded six runs in 4 1/3 innings. Richard caught Ramirez's line smash in the fourth inning that traveled an estimated 104.4 miles per hour.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Padres C Yasmani Grandal and SS Everth Cabrera are expected to be two of the some 20 players that Major League Baseball will seek to suspend because of their connection to the Biogenesis clinic in Miami, ESPN's "Outside The Lines" reported Tuesday. Tony Bosch, the founder of the clinic, reportedly has agreed to cooperate with investigators and will swear to an affidavit that he provided drugs to players. Grandal could be hit with a 100-game ban as a repeat offender - he returned to the Padres on May 28 after a 50-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. ... Padres manager Bud Black was ejected in the eighth inning by first base umpire Tim Timmons after Denorfia was called out on a close play. ... Padres 1B Yonder Alonso missed his fourth straight game after being hit by a pitch on the right hand Friday.
