Cubs 6, Rockies 3: Jeff Samardzija hit a two-run homer and pitched eight solid innings for his first win in eight starts as Chicago won its first home series of the season.

David DeJesus also homered while Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo and Alfonso Soriano added RBIs for the Cubs, who have won four of their last five games and snapped a 12-series winless streak at home (0-7-5). Samardzija (2-5) allowed two runs, five hits and struck out seven.

Josh Rutledge had three hits and two RBIs while Reid Brignac delivered a pinch-hit homer for the Rockies, who have lost eight of their last 12. Jon Garland (3-4) allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings while losing for the fourth time in his last five starts.

DeJesus led off the Cubs' first inning and hit Garland's fourth pitch into the seats in left-center before Rutledge's RBI single in the second tied it. Chicago took the lead for good in the bottom half when Darwin Barney doubled with two outs and Samardzija followed with a blast to left-center for his second career home run.

Brignac hit Samardzija's first pitch of the sixth inning into the right-center field bleachers for his first homer in a Rockies uniform. The Cubs added three runs in the seventh on back-to-back RBI singles by Castro and Rizzo, and a run-scoring fielder's choice grounder by Soriano.

GAME NOTEBOOK: DeJesus has 500 career RBIs. ... The Rockies have lost four straight series - each 2-1, while the Cubs are 2-0-1 in their last three. Chicago last won a home series when it took two out of three from Colorado last August. ... Rutledge hit Samardzija's 1-1 pitch off the left-field wall with two outs in the seventh. He tried to stretch it into a double, but was cut down on a relay from Soriano to shortstop Castro to Barney.
