Reds 9, Padres 4: Todd Frazier homered and Jay Bruce drove in a pair during a six-run second inning as host Cincinnati jumped on top early and picked up its third straight win.
Ryan Hanigan, Scott Rolen and Zack Cozart each drove in a run and Johnny Cueto tied for the major-league lead with his 14th win for the Reds, who have won 13 of 14 and are 17-3 since the All-Star break.
Cincinnati jumped on San Diego starter Ross Ohlendorf (3-2) in the second inning with five straight hits leading off the frame. Frazier was up second and clobbered a first-pitch breaking ball deep into the seats in left-center for a 2-0 lead.
Hanigan doubled in a run three batters later and Bruce added to the uprising with a two-run single to center later in the inning.
Ohlendorf balked in the final run and faced 11 batters in the inning before being pulled after walking two behind Bruce to re-load the bases. The right-hander was charged with six runs on six hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings.
Cueto (14-5) gave three runs back in the third and another in the fourth but held the Padres there, striking out nine to pick up his fifth straight win. He was charged with four runs and eight hits while walking one in 7 1/3 innings.
Eddy Rodriguez hit a solo homer in his first major league at-bat in the third inning and Cameron Maybin added a solo blast for San Diego.
