Rangers 3, Tigers 2 (11): Alberto Gonzalez's squeeze bunt plated Nelson Cruz to snap a tie in the 11th inning as visiting Texas claimed three of four against Detroit in a rematch of last season's American League Championship Series.
With the bases loaded and no outs, Gonzalez bunted the ball off his right knee before taking off for first base. The umpires did not see the ball carom off Gonzalez and did not declare a dead ball.
Thad Weber (0-1), who was making his major-league debut, fielded the ball but did not make a play. The play was not reviewable, though the Tigers' faithful voiced their displeasure.
Josh Hamilton rebounded from Saturday's four-strikeout performance with three hits, including his seventh homer of the season. He also tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Robbie Ross (3-0) was credited with the win after tossing one scoreless inning. Joe Nathan retired the side in the 11th for his fourth save.
Brennan Boesch belted a solo homer in the sixth inning, and Ramon Santiago scored on a wild pitch for the Tigers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre will have an MRI on his injured hamstring and is doubtful for the team's upcoming series against the New York Yankees. ... Drew Smyly's seven strikeouts were the most by a Tigers rookie lefthander since Andrew Miller fanned the same number against the Chicago White Sox on July 23, 2007. ... After a day off on Monday, Detroit will begin a three-game set against the visiting Seattle Mariners.
