Brewers 8, Marlins 4: Ryan Braun’s tapper plated the go-ahead run and Norichika Aoki and Jeff Bianchi each homered and had three RBIs apiece as visiting Milwaukee won for the 12th time in 15 games.
Braun had a run-scoring double off the base of the center-field fence in the opening inning and his two-out, 50-foot infield single down the third-base line in the seventh inning drove in Aoki with the tiebreaking run as the Brewers handed Miami its fifth loss in six games.
Aoki drove in the tying run with a double into the left-center field gap off Mike Dunn (0-2) earlier in the frame prior to Braun’s go-ahead hit. Bianchi added a three-run blast in the eighth to give Milwaukee a nice cushion.
John Axford retired the final batter with two men on base in the ninth for his 24th save in 32 opportunities.
Milwaukee had an early 3-0 lead on Braun’s first-inning double and Aoki’s two-run homer in the second.
Miami tallied in the bottom of the second on a run-scoring single by Donnie Murphy and tied the score at 3-3 in the third when Giancarlo Stanton smashed a two-run homer – his 30th of the season – over the fence in straight-away center.
The Marlins took the lead in the fifth on Gorkys Hernandez's first career homer.
Kameron Loe (6-4) threw two pitches and retired the final batter of the sixth to pick up the victory.
Milwaukee’s Shaun Marcum gave up four runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc allowed three runs and five hits in six innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Braun had his third consecutive two-hit outing and has six multihit games in the last nine contests. … Stanton is the 10th player in major-league history with multiple 30-homer seasons before the age of 23. He hit 34 last year. … Aoki had two hits and is 13-for-31 during an eight-game hitting streak. … Marlins SS Jose Reyes stole a base for his fifth steal in four games.
