Yankees 7, Twins 6: Curtis Granderson belted three home runs and went 5-for-5 with four RBIs as host New York erased an early four-run deficit to salvage a split of the four-game series.
Mark Teixeira added a two-run blast to help the Yankees improve to 30-7 against Minnesota since the Twins hired manager Ron Gardenhire in 2002.
Derek Jeter had an RBI single in the second inning for his 3,110th career hit, tying Dave Winfield for 18th place on the all-time list.
It was Granderson's first career three-homer game and the first three-homer game at the new Yankee Stadium.
Phil Hughes (1-2) was the beneficiary of the long-ball assault, picking up his first win despite a shaky outing in which he surrendering six runs - two earned - on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. Mariano Rivera finished up for his third save.
Ryan Doumit belted a two-run homer and added a two-run single for Minnesota, which took a 4-0 lead in the first inning for the second straight night.
Granderson brought the Yankees back by clubbing a solo homer in the first inning off Anthony Swarzak (0-3), a two-run shot in the second and another solo blast in the fourth to give New York a 7-4 lead. His bid for a fourth consecutive homer came up short when he singled in the sixth inning.
