Red Sox 10, Marlins 2: David Ortiz homered and drove in three runs to back a career-high seven innings from Felix Doubront as visiting Boston won the rubber game of the series against reeling Miami.
Doubront (7-3) tied his career high with nine strikeouts and allowed only three hits in bouncing back from his worst outing of the year. He held the Marlins hitless until Jose Reyes homered with two outs in the sixth.
Adrian Gonzalez had three hits and two RBIs and Nick Punto had two hits and drove in two runs as the Red Sox won for only the third time in 10 games.
Ricky Nolasco (6-5) lost his second straight start, allowing four runs - three earned - on five hits in six innings to cap a dismal 1-8 homestand by the Marlins.
Ortiz walloped his 15th homer in the fourth inning and followed Gonzalez's RBI single with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to give the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.
Miami got within 4-2 on Justin Ruggiano's RBI groundout in the seventh, but Boston broke the game open with a six-run eighth, including Punto's pinch-hit double to open the inning and his two-run single to make it 10-2.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ortiz's homer was the 393rd of his career, tying Jim Edmonds for 53rd place on the all-time list. ... The Marlins were tied with Washington for first place in the National League East on June 3, but they now trail the Nationals by seven games in the wake of the disastrous homestand. ... Doubront had retired 16 straight batters before Reyes broke up his no-hit bid with his second homer. ... Boston sent 11 men to the plate in the eighth, the first time it batted around in exactly a month. ... Miami will open a six-game road trip at intrastate rival Tampa Bay on Friday while Boston heads to Chicago for a three-game set with the Cubs.
