Robert Andino delivered a walk-off single in the 10th inning to lift the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-4 victory over the visiting New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon.
Andino also had a tying RBI single in the eighth inning to hand New York its second straight 5-4 setback in extra innings. He was 8-for-20 in the four games against the Yankees that was spread over two cities.
Vlad Guerrero homered and had a pair of doubles and Chris Davis also had three hits as Baltimore finished the season with a 4-14 record against New York.
Clay Rapada (1-0) pitched one-third of an inning to cap a stellar effort by the Orioles' bullpen, which received six hitless innings from five relievers. Scott Proctor (0-1) took the loss.
Derek Jeter had a two-run single and Eric Chavez had a pair of RBI singles for New York, which had its lead atop the AL East cut to two games over Boston. The Red Sox play in Toronto on Thursday night.
Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and center fielder Curtis Granderson each threw out a potential tying run at the plate before Andino’s RBI single in the eighth made it 4-4.
Ivan Nova lasted only 5 1/3 innings and was denied in his bid to become the first Yankees rookie to win nine consecutive starts since Atley Donald in 1939. He gave up three runs and five hits.
Baltimore's Alfredo Simon lost his third straight start after allowing four runs and a career-high six walks in only four innings.
