Rookie lefthander Zach Britton allowed four hits in 7 2/3 innings as the Baltimore Orioles handed the visiting Texas Rangers their first loss, 5-0 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.
Britton (2-0), making his second career start, struck out two, walked three and threw 103 pitches. Mark Reynolds had two hits, including a three-run homer in the second inning, for Baltimore (6-1).
Colby Lewis (1-1) took the loss for the Rangers (6-1). He allowed four earned runs and six hits in six innings. Josh Hamilton had two hits for the Rangers, who had scored 42 runs in their first six games.
Nick Markakis hit a solo homer to right field - his first - to give the Orioles a lead in the first. Luke Scott singled and Adam Jones reached on an error to start the second before Reynolds’ first homer. Reynolds has eight RBIs, including six in the last two games.
Jones added an RBI single in the third. The Orioles turned three double plays.
