Casper Wells hit a two-run homer and Felix Hernandez ended his three-game home losing streak as the Seattle Mariners recorded a 4-2 triumph over the visiting Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

Mike Carp added a two-run double for Seattle, which won for only the sixth time in 25 games. Four of the victories have come against Oakland.

Brendan Ryan helped the Mariners take a 2-0 lead against Rich Harden (2-2) in the first inning with a brilliant baserunning play. After reaching on an infield single, Ryan alertly advanced to second as no one covered the base.

Ryan then took third uncontested as Oakland also failed to man that bag. Two batters later, Carp put Seattle ahead with his double.

Wells doubled the lead in the sixth with his first homer since being acquired from Detroit on Saturday. Hernandez (10-9) allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings to improve to 12-4 against Oakland.

Jeff Gray escaped a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the eighth, and Brandon League worked a perfect ninth for his 25th save in 29 opportunities.

Scott Sizemore belted a two-run homer for the Athletics, who have lost four of six.
