Alexi Ogando allowed two hits in six shutout innings in his first major league start and the Texas Rangers remained unbeaten with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.
The right-handed Ogando (1-0) struck out four and walked two as Texas improved to 5-0.
Mitch Moreland had a run-scoring triple in the second, and Josh Hamilton and Michael Young each delivered run-scoring doubles in the sixth for the Texas runs.
Neftali Feliz pitched a perfect ninth for his second save in two nights.
Seattle (2-3) scored both runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Jack Wilson and Michael Saunders after Mark Lowe replaced Ogando.
Michael Pineda (0-1) pitched well in his major-league debut for the Mariners. He gave up three runs and five hits in six innings, struck out four and walked one.
Rangers designated hitter Nelson Cruz went 0 for 2 with a walk. Cruz tied a major-league record shared by Willie Mays (1971) and Mark McGwire (1998) by homering in each of the Texas’ first four games of the season.
