Cody Ross blasted a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning off Lance Cormier to give the visiting San Francisco Giants an 8-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.
Ross’ shot with two outs came after Los Angeles tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Juan Uribe doubled in two runs before James Loney followed with an RBI single.
Both hits came off Giants closer Brian Wilson (4-1), who returned in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.
Matt Cain gave up two runs on three hits while striking out seven over 7 1/3 innings. His 20-inning scoreless streak against the Dodgers ended in the fifth inning following Matt Kemp’s ninth home run of the season.
Clayton Kershaw’s scoreless streak against San Francisco ended at 26 1/3 innings when the Giants scratched for a run in the third inning on three straight singles.
Kershaw gave up four runs on seven hits while striking out six over five innings.
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Giants, who scored more than four runs for the first time in 13 games.
