Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 25 games, and Juan Uribe and Matt Kemp homered to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-2 win over the visiting San Diego Padres on Friday.
With his double into the right field corner in the fifth inning, Ethier extended the longest April hitting streak in major league history and the longest in any month since 2009.
Ted Lilly (2-2) allowed one run on five hits over six innings for the Dodgers.
Jonathan Broxton gave up an RBI single to Orlando Hudson in the ninth before securing his sixth save. Left fielder Tony Gwynn made a game-saving catch on Nick Hundley's hit with two men on base and two outs in the ninth.
The Dodgers grabbed an early lead when Ethier’s groundout scored Jamey Carroll in the first off Clayton Richard (1-2), who gave up two runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Hundley snapped the Padres’ 0-for-15 skid with runners in scoring position with an RBI single in the third that scored Chase Headley, who doubled to lead off the inning.
Uribe hit a solo home run in the fourth and Matt Kemp blasted his sixth home run in the seventh off Ernesto Frieri, who had retired 20 consecutive batters.
