Mike Fontenot and Pablo Sandoval blasted solo home runs, and the San Francisco Giants held off the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Wednesday.
Jonathan Sanchez (1-1) struck out nine and allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings. Five Giants relievers combined to preserve the lead, including closer Brian Wilson, who worked a perfect ninth inning for his second save in as many games.
Fontenot and Sandoval homered in the sixth off Dodgers starter Ted Lilly (0-2), who gave up four runs on seven hits in six innings.
San Francisco took a 1-0 lead in the first when Aubrey Huff’s sacrifice fly scored Aaron Rowand. The Giants added another run in the second on Fontenot’s RBI double to deep right.
Los Angeles answered in the fourth on Rod Barajas' two-run homer, his third of the season, and took a 3-2 lead in the sixth when Aaron Miles’ double scored Marcus Thames.
