Ryan Ludwick, Nick Hundley and Cameron Maybin blasted solo home runs and the San Diego Padres salvaged the series finale against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers with a 7-2 win on Sunday.
Aaron Harang (2-0) allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over six innings to earn the win.
After the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Padres tied the game in the third on Jorge Cantu’s run-scoring single.
Ludwick gave San Diego the lead with his first home run of the season in the fourth inning off Dodgers starter John Ely (0-1), who gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Hundley’s two-run homer in the sixth gave the Padres a 4-1 cushion. Hundley went 1-for-2 with two walks and is hitting .440 after hitting safely in each of his first seven games.
Maybin’s second home run this season was a deep shot to center off Kenley Jansen to lead off the seventh inning. San Diego’s three home runs matched the team’s total through seven games.
Alberto Gonzalez and Maybin added the Padres' final two runs in the eighth with run-scoring hits off Lance Cormier. Three San Diego relievers combined to throw three scoreless innings to preserve the win.
