Anthony Bass allowed just two hits over five-plus scoreless innings, helping San Diego finish a three-game road sweep with a 4-0 victory at Colorado on Wednesday afternoon.

Bass (2-0), making just his second career start, retired the first 11 hitters he faced and threw just 52 pitches, departing after allowing a leadoff walk in the sixth inning. Five San Diego relievers combined to finish off the shutout, holding the Rockies to four more hits the rest of the way.

The Padres, who have won five of their last six, batted around while staking Bass to a four-run lead in the first inning. Following a pair of bases-loaded sacrifice flies, Anthony Rizzo and Andy Parrino delivered consecutive RBI singles with two out against Aaron Cook (3-10).

Cook settled down after the first inning and struck out eight batters for the Rockies, who finished their seven-game homestand without a win. Colorado continued to play without two of its top hitters, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez and first baseman Todd Helton.
