Bud Norris struck out 11 in 7 2/3 innings and Carlos Lee hit a three-run homer as the Houston Astros blanked the visiting Milwaukee Brewers 5-0 on Sunday.
Bill Hall added an RBI single and Hunter Pence scored a run for the Astros, who took two of three to pick up their first home series win of the season.
Norris (2-1) allowed only three hits and three walks in his longest outing since July 9, 2010. The 26-year old righthander has allowed a total of three earned runs in his last four starts and has struck out 43 in 35 2/3 innings.
Houston scratched out a run off Chris Narveson (1-2) in the second on Bill Hall’s single and tacked on the insurance in the sixth when Lee blasted a hanging breaking ball out to left for his third homer.
It was not all good news for the Astros, as Lee had to be carted off the field in the seventh inning after colliding with shortstop Angel Sanchez. The veteran slugger took a knee to his abdomen and appeared to be in considerable pain.
