Kosuke Fukudome drove in four runs and fell a double short of the cycle as the Chicago Cubs slugged their way to a 12-7 home victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Fukudome belted a three-run homer in the sixth inning, Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Pena also went deep and Starlin Castro had three hits for Chicago, which took three of four from the its National League Central rival.
Matt Garza (3-6) overcame a sluggish start to pick up the win. After allowing five runs in the first three innings, Garza faced the minimum over the next three to snap a two-game losing skid.
Zack Greinke (6-2) saw his six-game winning streak come to an end in emphatic fashion. The righthander permitted eight runs on as many hits and struck out 10 in 5 1/3 innings. The former first-rounder was trying to join New York Mets rookie Dillon Gee, Texas Rangers righthander Alexi Ogando and Boston Red Sox lefthander Jon Lester as pitchers with seven straight wins this season.
Ryan Braun and George Kottaras belted two-run homers and Jonathan Lucroy had a two-run single for Milwaukee, which fell to 14-22 away from Miller Park this season.
