Matt Kemp belted his fourth homer in as many games and prized prospect Dee Gordon collected three hits in his first career start as the Los Angeles Dodgers recorded a 6-2 road victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
Dioner Navarro had an RBI single in the second inning and Casey Blake and Andre Ethier followed suit in the third for Los Angeles, which improved to 3-2 on its current 10-game road trip.
After making three relief appearances, rookie Rubby De La Rosa (2-0) struggled with his control in his first career start. He permitted five walks – including a run-scoring free pass to Placido Polanco in the second – before settling down to allow one run on four hits in five innings.
With Los Angeles nursing a 4-2 lead, Kemp deposited Michael Stutes' offering into the right-center field seats in the eighth inning. The two-run blast was Kemp's 17th of the season, which ties him with Cincinnati's Jay Bruce for the National League lead.
Chase Utley had an RBI triple in the seventh and Polanco went 0-for-3 to see his eight-game hitting streak come to an end for Philadelphia, which has dropped five of its last seven.
Winless since April 21, Roy Oswalt (3-4) yielded four runs on eight hits in six innings to take the loss. Oswalt also had a throwing error in the third that allowed Gordon to score and give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead
