Casey McGehee drove in the go-ahead runs in the top of the ninth and Prince Fielder homered and had four RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers earned a wild 11-9 victory over the host New York Mets on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Braun homered and scored three times and Yuniesky Betancourt added a two-run shot for the Brewers, who won for the 21st time in their last 24 games and pushed their lead over the St. Louis Cardinals to 8 ½ games in the NL Central.
Milwaukee owned a 7-1 lead through six innings before the Mets stormed back, finally grabbing a 9-7 edge in the eighth when they pushed three runs across against former teammate Francisco Rodriguez.
But the Brewers returned the favor against Jason Isringhausen (3-3) in the next half inning. The veteran reliever walked the first two batters and allowed a single to Corey Hart before Mark Kotsay drew a third walk to close it to 9-8.
New York went back to the bullpen for Manny Acosta, who got Braun to fly out before yielding an RBI single to Fielder to tie it at 9-9.
McGehee followed and pushed a single to shallow right, scoring Hart and Kotsay to reclaim the lead.
Rodriguez (5-2) ended up with the win and John Axford picked up his 37th save.
