Orlando Hudson homered and drove in four runs as the San Diego Padres collected a season-high eight extra-base hits in their 14-1 rout of the visiting Florida Marlins on Saturday.
Kyle Blanks homered for the second straight game and Nick Hundley went 4-for-4 for the Padres, who improved to 6-0 against the Marlins this season.
Hundley hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning for the 1,000th home run at Petco Park since it opened in 2004. He fell a triple short of hitting for the Padres’ first cycle in franchise history.
Aaron Harang (12-3) improved to 8-1 over his last 15 starts after giving up one run over six innings. The Padres scored 10 or more runs at Petco Park for just the 10th time.
Facing his former team, Marlins starter Clay Hensley (1-5) allowed seven runs over 2 2/3 innings. Florida has lost four straight games and 14 of their last 16.
Jose Lopez provided the Marlins' lone run with his solo blast in the sixth inning.
