Rookie Mark Trumbo drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning as the Los Angeles Angels recorded a 6-5 victory over the Florida Marlins on Wednesday at Sun Life Stadium.
Angels right fielder Torii Hunter was injured when he crashed into the wall while robbing a hit from Gaby Sanchez in the fifth inning. Hunter was 1-for-3 with an RBI double before leaving the game with bruised ribs.
Trumbo helped the Angels get in position to win it when he doubled to start a two-out rally and scored on Hank Conger's single in the eighth to give the Angels a 5-4 lead. But the Marlins tied it on Dewayne Wise's pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
Los Angeles closer Jordan Walden (1-1) allowed an inherited runner to score on Wise's single, but he worked a scoreless ninth for his first major league win. Michael Kohn pitched the 10th for his second career save.
Brian Sanches made a spot start for the Marlins, who were scheduled to throw lefthander Brad Hand before they optioned him to the minors Monday to recall reliever Jose Ceda.
Sanches lasted just 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs in the third, which included home runs by Maicer Izturis and Bobby Abreu.
Florida's Hanley Ramirez, whose multi-hit game Tuesday was his first since May 21, went 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
The Marlins dropped to 1-2 under interim manager Jack McKeon. They are 2-20 in June and have lost 12 of their last 13.
