Burke Badenhop lined an RBI single to score the go-ahead run in the 11th inning and earned the win in relief as the Florida Marlins beat the host New York Mets 2-1 on Monday.

Reluctant to use his last position player off the bench, Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez allowed Badenhop to hit for himself. Badenhop, who was 1-for-23 in his career, lined a 3-2 pitch from Ryota Igarashi (2-1) up the middle to score Mike Stanton. Badenhop (1-0) worked around two walks in the 10th for the win.

Leo Nunez allowed a two-out triple to pinch-hitter Jon Niese - Tuesday's scheduled starter - before he struck out Jose Reyes for his 15th save as the Marlins improved to 12-4 in one-run games.

The Mets loaded the bases in the ninth, but Randy Choate got Chin-lung Hu to ground into a fielder's choice to end the threat. They had runners at first and second with one out in the 10th, but Justin Turner grounded into a double play.

Marlins starter Josh Johnson left after five innings with a bruised right forearm after he was hit by a Carlos Beltran line drive with one out in the fifth. He allowed one run, seven hits, walked one and struck out three.

With stars Ike Davis and David Wright on the disabled list, the Mets' patchwork lineup managed two extra-base hits.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead on Turner's RBI double in the fourth, and it stayed there until Stanton's long home run to dead center in the seventh. It was Stanton's eighth home run of the season and his third in four games.

Mets starter Mike Pelfrey limited the Marlins to one run on six hits over seven innings with two walks and one strikeout.
