Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 24 games, then blasted a tie-breaking home run in the 10th inning to help the Los Angeles Dodgers avoid a three-game sweep with a 5-4 victory against the Florida Marlins on Wednesday at Sun Life Stadium.
The Marlins took a 4-0 lead in the second on an RBI single by Brett Hayes and a three-run triple by Chris Coghlan.
The Dodgers cut it to 4-3 when Rod Barajas hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, his fifth of the season. They tied it on Juan Uribe's RBI double in the seventh.
Ethier broke the tie with his third home run of the season, a solo shot leading off the 10th against Brian Sanches (3-1), who had his streak of 13 2/3 scoreless innings to start the season snapped.
Ethier extended his hitting streak with a single in the fourth inning. It's the longest April hitting streak in major-league history and the longest by a Dodgers player since Paul Lo Duca hit in 25 straight in 2003.
Matt Guerrier (2-1) earned the win, working out of a jam in the ninth after allowing runners to reach second and third with one out. Vicente Padilla pitched a perfect 10th for his first save.
The Marlins completed their nine-game homestand with seven victories.
