Josh Johnson struck out nine in seven scoreless innings and drove in two runs as the Florida Marlins shut out the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 on Tuesday.
Gaby Sanchez chipped in two RBIs and John Buck drove in a run and scored two for the Marlins, who have won four of five.
Johnson (3-0), who has taken no-hitters into the sixth inning twice this season, did not allow a hit Tuesday until the fifth, when Garrett Jones led off with a single. The ace righthander allowed two hits - both were erased by double plays - and walked one to lower his ERA to 1.00.
Johnson gave himself enough support in the second inning when he reached Paul Maholm for a two-run single to right-center.
Florida broke it open with four in the fourth. Buck started the rally with an RBI double and Hanley Ramirez drew a bases-loaded walk before Sanchez sent his two-run single to right.
Maholm (0-3) was charged with six runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
