Starlin Castro and Darwin Barney each had four of Chicago's 14 hits as the Cubs defeated host Atlanta 8-4 on Saturday to snap the Braves' five-game winning streak.
Braves second baseman Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to 33 games with a single in the first inning.
Castro and Barney both went 4-for-5 at the top of the Chicago lineup, with each singling home a run during a three-run eighth that put the game out of reach. Castro had another RBI base hit in the sixth.
Uggla's home run in the fourth tied the game 1-1 before the Cubs took the lead for good in the fifth on an RBI double by Carlos Peña. They added two unearned runs in the sixth against Braves starter Derek Lowe (7-11) to build a 5-1 cushion.
Randy Wells (4-4) allowed two runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. Lowe surrendered five runs - three earned - in six innings. He gave up 10 hits and struck out six without a walk.
Uggla finished 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch for the second straight game. His streak is tied for 19th longest in major league history.
