Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer and Rick Porcello pitched 6 2/3 solid innings as the Detroit Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the visiting Minnesota Twins with a 4-2 victory on Wednesday.

Alex Avila added an RBI for the Tigers, who have won four straight.

The Twins continue to sink, dropping their fourth straight and 10th in the last 12 games overall to run their major league-worst record to 17-37.

Detroit got to Scott Baker (2-4) for a run in the second on Avila’s single and then put it away in the third when Cabrera launched his 11th homer of the season on a line over the wall in left-center field. The three RBIs gave Cabrera 40 on the season.

Porcello (5-3) yielded two runs and six hits to pick up the win and Jose Valverde worked around a pair of walks to earn his 14th save in the ninth.

Jason Repko got a rare start in right field for the Twins and provided the highlight of the game when he slammed into the wall to rob an extra-base hit from Andy Dirks in the second inning.
