Ben Zobrist knocked in three runs and Johnny Damon drove in two as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays rolled to an 8-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night as snow fell throughout the game.
Wade Davis (3-2) allowed two runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. Sean Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI for the Rays (12-11), who have won three straight and 11 of 14.
Twins starter Francisco Liriano (1-4) allowed seven runs on six hits in three-plus innings. Luke Hughes had three hits and Jason Kubel added two hits and an RBI for the Twins (9-13), who had a season-high three-game win streak snapped. Minnesota pitchers threw 212 pitches and walked nine.
The Rays scored four times before making an out in the top of the first inning. Sam Fuld doubled and scored on Damon’s RBI single. After B.J. Upton doubled, Zobrist hit a two-run triple and later scored on Rodriguez' single. Tampa Bay added three runs in the top of the fourth, aided by four consecutive walks.
