Johnny Damon singled home B.J. Upton to cap a two-run, ninth-inning rally as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the visiting Minnesota Twins 4-3 on Saturday.
It was Damon’s second walk-off hit in three days, this time off lefthander Jose Mijares with two outs and the bases loaded, as the Rays (6-8) won their fifth straight game.
Matt Joyce's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth off Matt Capps brought Tampa Bay to within 3-2, and Ben Zobrist led off the ninth with a solo home run off Twins closer Joe Nathan (0-1) to tie the game. It was the second blown save in three nights for Nathan, who also walked two.
Juan Cruz (1-0) got the win in the relief with a scoreless inning.
Denard Span had three hits and an RBI for the Twins (4-10), who have lost four straight. Alexi Casilla and Jason Kubel, including his first home run, had two hits each for Minnesota.
Twins starter Scott Baker allowed four hits and one run in seven innings, while striking out six.
Tampa Bay starter Jeff Niemann gave up three runs and eight hits over seven innings.
