Russell Martin and Mark Teixeira hit two-run homers as the host New York Yankees went deep four times en route to a 7-3 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday to snap a six-game home losing streak.
Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez added solo shots as the Yankees stretched their major league-leading home run total to 70.
Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, Martin and Teixeira connected in the second and third, respectively, to reclaim the lead off Chris Capuano. Granderson and Rodriguez delivered in the sixth to make it 6-3 and chase Capuano, who allowed six runs, six hits and struck out five in 5 1/3 innings to lose for the fourth time in his last five starts.
A.J. Burnett (5-3) allowed three runs on six hits and struck out four in 6 1/3 innings.
The Mets, who had their three-game winning streak snapped, scored three runs or less for the fifth straight game and were shut out by the Yankees’ bullpen for the fourth straight time.
Jose Reyes had three hits for the Mets.
